The preschool children have been investigating healthy eating and the beautiful fresh fruit that we can eat to keep us healthy. To enhance their learning outside of the classroom they went on an excursion to Tauwhare Berry Farm.
In the toddler room the children have been keeping a close eye on the five tadpoles, one of the parents gave them. They have watched the transformation from tadpole to frog. It has been a really family event with the parents stopping in to check up on the frogs as well.
Out in the play ground we have equipment that the children are able to challenge themselves with. The equipment outside also helps the children to be able to support each other, if not physically then verbally. Here are two little boys, the one on the ground is encouraging the other one to keep going, by telling him, " you got this, you do it"
We also have a small friend that comes to visit us, her name is Piki. Having a small pet around the centre helps the children to learn how to care for a pet. She is only out and about for short periods as she is still on a puppy.
We have the most natural environment the children like to be able to paint what they see in their environment, the children are painting a mural of their outside play area.
Kayden is so excited to have tadpoles in the centre, that he helped the older children prepare this area for them. Kayden is showing us how a tadpole licks the water. (we are not sure if tadpoles have a tongue, but with Kayden and the children we can find this out. Science and Research go hand in hand
We are very lucky to have Te Roro with us, helping and guiding the children with their learning. Here two of the tamariki are sharing time at the drawing table creating what they want, with no expectations to be perfect.
